ABOUT
JULIANA MONTGOMERY is an international observer compelled by storytelling through the moving image. She has an intrinsic passion for the mediums of film and video and is fascinated by their ability to simultaneously express and inform cultural dynamics.
As a 2006-2007 Fulbright Fellow to the Czech Republic, she created, shot, and produced the first phase of a documentary, which explored visual images of women during Czech communist and post-communist eras. She went on to become a 2010-2011 Henry Luce Scholar to Singapore where she worked with HBO Asia and the Asian Film Archive as part of a cultural immersion professional fellowship program.
Juliana has worked within the film, video, television and commercial advertising production realms where her industry experience includes producing, directing and writing. Her work encompasses documentaries themed around social justice, gender equality and education; her experiences in television production reflect branded promotional content for cable as well as network news; and her credits include an Emmy Award as associate agency producer for the 2009 ‘Outstanding Commercial Advertisement’ titled Coca-Cola’s ‘Heist’.
With over 10 years active involvement in the media industry, the breadth of Juliana’s experiences has provided invaluable tools to shape her personal and professional work. Likewise, Juliana has developed a keen sense of the independent and commercial production worlds and the intersection therein. As a result of Juliana’s humanitarian and international development interests, she has traveled in over 35 countries and her industry production related experience has spanned 4 continents. For Juliana, sharing stories through moving images is an integral part of the human experience. She believes that it is through these portals that reflections of our interconnected existence emerge.
